Keyboard Shortcuts

Loki Studio supports industry-standard keyboard shortcuts, making it easy for experienced editors to work efficiently. These shortcuts are primarily used in the Timeline Editor.

Pro Tip: Many shortcuts are borrowed from professional editing software like DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro, so they'll feel familiar if you use those tools.

Timeline Navigation

`Home`	Jump to beginning of timeline
`End`	Jump to end of timeline

Mark In/Out (Editing)

Timeline Zoom

JKL Playback System

The J, K, L keys form a powerful playback control system:

J

Reverse

Press once for 1x reverse. Press again for 2x, 4x, 8x speed.

K

Stop

Stops playback. Hold with J or L for slow motion.

L

Forward

Press once for 1x forward. Press again for 2x, 4x, 8x speed.

JKL Tips

Slow Motion: Hold K while tapping J or L for frame-by-frame playback
Speed Shuttle: Tap L multiple times to increase playback speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x)
Quick Stop: Tap K to instantly stop at any speed
Direction Change: You can switch from forward to reverse (or vice versa) without stopping first

Mark In/Out Workflow

The I and O keys are essential for defining edit regions:

Navigate to where you want the cut to start
Press I to mark the In point
Navigate to where you want the cut to end
Press O to mark the Out point
The region is now marked and can be deleted with Del

Note: In Loki Studio, marked regions represent content to be removed (cuts), not content to be kept. This is the opposite of some editing software.
